Using Technology to Build a Brand
Technology plays a vital role in the growth of businesses in all industries. Embracing the latest technologies in your industries gives you comparative advantage over your competitors and an upper hand in acquiring a large market segment for your products or services. If you are starting out in any industry today, the best advice that I could give you is to be ready to explore all technological avenues which will ensure that you realize your ambitions and targets in the shortest time possible.
It was back in 2009 when I launched a company in the entertainment industry. It was time that I felt that I really needed to achieve my dreams as an event organizer. Until then, I had worked in different facets of the entertainment industry; once as a pianist in a band, at one time as a music promoter in a private company and the most part of my life as a fashion stylist.
Having been in the industry for more than 8 years and having numerous connections from the people that I met in the industry, I was certain that my time had come to take my position in the industry. To some extent, I was nervous though. I had this nauseating feeling that I may not be that successful in the industry despite my vast experience. My main reason for my timidity stemmed from the fact that I didn’t have enough cash for the establishment and I had to be serviced by a loan. I simply didn’t know how long it would take for me to get established. There was this fear in me that I would never make it.
Online Branding is Key to a Successful Business Today
Yet still, I decided to risk and carry on with my plans. Among my plans that I formulated to help me excel was to market my company online. Social media platform back then were not so diverse and popular as they are today, but I saw potential in them. There was a big element of social media that attracted me to market my business there. Through the power of platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, I created a page for my business and ensured that I was consistent in engaging with my fans.
I would ensure that I kept them updated about what was going on in the music industry as well as what was being planned in the future. Most of my target fans resonated with me because they were youth who loved to have fun and they always expected to know the best places which would be great for them.
By engaging with them while all that time marketing my brand, I ensured that I gave them the best value for their money by engaging reputable musicians, bands and discos. This was not only beneficial to them or me, but to the various parties that I marketed and enjoyed the crowd that I moved through online engagement. I must though state that it wasn’t an easy run and it took me about 1 year to acquire a good number of loyal fans. The best part is that they never let me down.
Technological Advancement in Online Transactions made me Realize my Dreams
As part of my online campaigns to market my business, I introduced online ticketing and payments for my clients and partners. Basically, being a music promoter means that the clients who approach you – musicians, event managers etc – and to create a reputable brand you need to be transparent in all you monetary details. As part of my moves, I ensured that I introduced the latest, easy and reliable methods of payments. Through my website, I handled all online payments through PayPal and credit cards for the clients who wanted my services.
For those clients who wanted concert ticketing done for them, I employed the services of a reputable ticketing firm, who handled all the transactions for me on behalf of my clients. Simply, it was a win-win situation for all parties.
In essence, I ensured that I gave my clients the best and with 2 years into the industry, my business had grown to become one of the most reputable music promoters in my locality. I’m still embracing technology in my quest to make it big and I believe that any business worth surviving in today’s world ought to do the same.
