Business Minded Technology
One of the most memorable events for married couples is the wedding day. Walking down the aisle to say ‘I do’ means a lot not only to your spouse but to your marital life as well. The wedding day serves as a bondage to family life and helps one focus on living a life of togetherness. That was my case back in 2100 when I married Anna, now a mother of two; I’m also a dad of two lovely daughters.
After the wedding and all the magnificent, money-consuming ceremonies, comes a time to start working to ‘salvage’ the marriage – successful marriages are based on being moneyed, not love and if you feel that I’m strayed on my opinion you can take that to the bank.
After our lovely wedding with Anna, we had to make a life together. By then I had quit my job as a restaurant manager and there was the need to do something useful to bring bread on the table. My plans were to start a wedding-planning business. You can bet the fortune that I spent planning for my colorful wedding which made me realize the potential of the industry. However, there is always a starting point in every venture; a first step.
You Need to Reinvent Your Business to Be at the Top of Competitors
Our first step was to become renowned bakers of the wedding cakes. As Anna and I planned, we needed to put all over efforts in this industry. Having worked in the hospitality industry for several years I knew the challenges involved and I was ready to face them. Anna was on my side and ready to see me through thick and thin.
We started our venture late 2011. It didn’t take much time to pick because we were all focused to ensure that we became the best in the industry by having unique design of wedding cakes. We ensured that everything ingredient and method that we used in our business was standard and before long, we were receiving customers as far as 300 miles from the place of operation.
Most came to use not only because of our unique designs, but our timely service and value for their money. They loved our products and in most cases referred other clients to us. We also served clients who wanted cakes for other special occasions and majority of them were really happy with our products.
However, by 2013, we began experiencing huge competition form other entrant in the market who also wanted a share of this lucrative market. I wouldn’t say that most were driven by greed (there cakes were inferior to ours, but their marketing strategies were a bit better), but within no time, they had taken up a large market share than we anticipated. Although I felt that business was fine, I didn’t feel comfortable that despite our efforts we were becoming second to others.
Online Advertising helps in Driving More Sales
All through the period since our business became popular, we had received several proposals from business partners who wanted franchising our brand because they felt was superior, but my wife and I always rejected the offers because we felt that franchising would undermine our market share if the franchises didn’t not do the business like we did such as not following our recipes to the letters in their wanting to cut cost.
But then that we were not longer the dominant of the market, there was need to adopt new methods of doing business; methods that would ensure that we remained on top. After much research, we decided to take our marketing campaigns to the internet. Through the internet, we realized that we had hundreds of reviews of past customers who were from far towns, and that meant that by constant advertising and embracing advertising, we stood a chance to recoup our identity.
We launched our first pat per click marketing campaign in major search engines by 2014, and through the marketing, we received even more orders. This was the first step towards franchising. After receiving enormous positive response, we worked with our lawyers to pave way for new franchising agreements and within a month we had received and reviewed a total of 12 proposals.
We continued with online advertisement as we reached to other investors interested in the industry. By June 2014, we had reclaimed our spot in the industry; also by then, we made sure that we adopted other advanced methods of running business through technology that today have enabled us cut cost and profit more.
